What does WordPress on Cloudflare cost?
$0 for hosting a small site. HostlessWP is free and open source, and everything it uses on Cloudflare has a free tier: the Workers Free plan allows 100,000 requests, 100,000 database queries and 1,000 page cache writes a day, and R2 includes 10 GB of media storage. Workers Paid is $5 a month when a site outgrows that. The one thing you keep paying for is your MySQL database, wherever it is today.
The free tiers
| Service | Free plan | What uses it |
|---|---|---|
| Workers | 100,000 requests a day | Every request that reaches the Worker: page views (cached or not) and media requests when the bucket has no public address. Theme files and other static assets are free and unlimited. |
| Hyperdrive | 100,000 queries a day | Database queries from PHP. Cached pages for logged-out visitors use none. |
| Workers KV | 1,000 writes a day | Storing pages in the page cache. When writes run out, pages are rendered by PHP for the rest of the day. |
| R2 | 10 GB storage | Your media library, with no fee for traffic out of R2. Any S3-compatible bucket works instead. |
Limits as published by Cloudflare in October 2026. Check Cloudflare's pricing before you rely on them.
How far the free plan goes
For most small sites the first limit you reach is database queries, and only pages that run PHP use them. From our benchmark pages:
| Page that runs PHP | Queries per page | Uncached views a day within 100,000 queries |
|---|---|---|
| Core WordPress home page | 29 | about 3,400 |
| WooCommerce home page | 74 | about 1,350 |
Simple division, not a load test. Real pages vary with plugins and content. What it means in practice:
- Content sites serve most views from the page cache, which uses no queries. The 1,000 KV writes a day limit how many pages can be stored or refreshed, not how often they are read.
- Shops and member sites run PHP for carts, checkout, accounts and the admin. Those views are what use up the free queries.
- Image-heavy sites with a private bucket count every media request as a Worker request. Give the bucket a public or CDN address and media no longer counts.
When to pay $5 a month
Workers Paid costs $5 a month and raises the daily limits. It is worth it when the site regularly runs out of free queries or requests, and it also allows longer requests, which helps with large imports. After upgrading, run npx hostlesswp deploy --recheck-plan so the Worker is deployed with the paid settings. To make sure a site never deploys on the Free plan, use --allow-free=false.
What you still pay for
Your database
HostlessWP never moves it, so it stays on its current host and plan. Managed MySQL with a free tier works too, as long as it supports SSL.
Media beyond 10 GB
Billed by your storage provider. R2 charges no fee for traffic out of the bucket.
Your domain
As today. Adding it to the Worker is done in the Cloudflare dashboard.
Questions
Can I host WordPress on Cloudflare for free?
A small site, yes. With HostlessWP, WordPress runs on the Workers Free plan, whose daily limits are 100,000 requests, 100,000 Hyperdrive queries and 1,000 KV writes. Media goes to R2, which includes 10 GB of storage. You still need a MySQL database somewhere.
When do I need Workers Paid?
When a site regularly runs out of the free daily limits, usually the database queries of pages that are not cached, such as shop, cart and admin traffic. Workers Paid is $5 a month and also allows longer requests.
What happens when a free limit runs out?
When KV writes run out, pages are no longer stored that day and are rendered by PHP. For the request and query limits, Cloudflare's own rules apply; a site with regular traffic near them should be on Workers Paid.
Does HostlessWP cost anything?
No. HostlessWP is free and open source under GPL-2.0-or-later. There is no HostlessWP service; everything runs in your own Cloudflare account.
